Pay Range: $76k-109k

 

Primary duties and responsibilities include the following; however, Management reserves the right to assign or reassign other appropriate duties to this job at any time.

  • Follow all safety guidelines and participate as a fully empowered team member to achieve organization-wide goal of zero incidents.
  • Managing multiple automation projects as assigned.
  • Setup, program, modify, and maintain a variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interfaces HMI, Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), and reporting applications. Applications include, but are not limited to; Allen Bradley PLC 5, Allen Bradley SLC 500, Allen Bradley CLX 5500, Allen Bradley Panel View, Rockwell Software RSView32, and Siemens (step 7) control logic and HVAC and energy management control systems.
  • Perform service calls and troubleshoot issues on projects as needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:    

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be capable of performing each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Controls Engineering, Process Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other applicable field of study.  2+ years of experience in related equipment manufacturing.  2+ years working knowledge of PLC programming, and operator interface design skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of PC usage required to include using the Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Demonstrated prior experience successfully completing the essential functions listed above.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, both in solving problems and being proactive with continuous improvement projects
  • Demonstrated expertise in 5S, Lean and Six Sigma principles.  Black Belt preferred.
  • Must be able to write and follow advanced PLC logic and troubleshooting of logic on multiple platforms, including Siemans step 7, and Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, and SLC series.
  • Must be able to install and configure specialized intelligent I/O and communications cards on multiple platforms, including Siemans step 7, and Allen Bradley PLC, ControlLogix, and SLC series.
  • Must be familiar with the theory of operation of basic sensing devices such as proximity detectors, visible infrared detection devices, encoders, flow meters, etc.
  • Must be able to configure the hardware of the PC on which process control software is installed, and develop usable HMI, MMI user interfaces on both process control PC's and dedicated operator interfaces/touch screens.
  • Must be able to install and program ancillary equipment such as digital timers, counter, PID loop controllers, etc.
  • Must be able to terminate control wiring and program AC and DC frequency drives including systems application drives.
  • Must be familiar with the operation, application, and troubleshooting of AC and DC motors and frequency drives, stepper motors and controls, and servo motors and controls. 
  • Must be familiar with advanced test equipment, including oscilloscopes, power monitoring devices, etc. 
  • Must be able to write moderate to advanced software applications for accessing and manipulating data from central data warehouses and process/logic controllers. 
  • Must be familiar with basic electrical codes and power distribution systems.
  • Must be familiar with the theory of digital communications and their various protocols, including ethernet, Profibus, DeviceNet, DH+, DH_485, RS-232, RS-485, etc.
  • Must be able to manage the available plant resources, both internal and external, to ensure the timely completion of projects. 
  • Must be able to design and manage the installation of moderate to complex projects. This includes oversight of different trades (electrical, mechanical, tech.) both internal and external, material purchasing, and project completion date management.
  • Must be willing to be called in to work.
  • Must be willing to work project work and weekends when necessary
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and interpersonal).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
