Job Description:
The Controls & Digital Engineering Program Manager is responsible for centrally managing the Controls/Automation, Factory IT and Digital programs within Mars Pet Nutrition North America. This includes leading program standardization, driving successful project execution, building associate talent/capability of an expanding team, and driving long-term strategy/roadmaps in partnership within the engineering community and cross-functional stakeholders. The Controls & Digital Engineering Program Manager and their team will be responsible for managing an annual capital budget of up to $20M annually, including Asset Health Check (AHC).
What are we looking for?
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required
  • Understanding of engineering principles - Controls/Automation knowledge including low voltage electrical systems, instrumentation, PLC, HMI/SCADA and industrial networks. Knowledge in MES/MOM, Factory IT and Cybersecurity is a plus.
  • 10+ years experience in a comparable technical position desirable - food, beverage, pharmaceutical or related industry preferable
  • Proven large capital project leadership (>$10M CapEx)
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience (Great Line Management and HPC)
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and influencing skills as well as ability to understand business strategies and translation into Supply programs

What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Ownership of the overall Controls/Automation, Factory IT and Digital program across Pet Nutrition NA, including multi-year roadmap development, deployment, execution and continuous improvement
  • Provide leadership in strategic discussions, and influence cross-segment, regional, global teams, community of practices and stakeholders on program management
  • Expand the current team to include new line managers and a new team of Smart Factory digital engineers, to help drive the Smart Factory roadmap, and execute capital projects with excellence
  • Role model the Great Line Management (GLM) and High Performance Collaboration (HPC) mindset to attract, retain and develop associate talent
  • Be a visible and courageous change agent by challenging the status quo, advocating/developing solutions to continuously improve the program and improve our ways-of-working within engineering and our cross-functional stakeholders
  • Foster open relationships, motivate teams, and ensure strong collaboration to support successful implementation of program initiatives and drive excellence in execution on capital projects
  • Develop, implement and improve training programs, including capability development and documentation for engineering and site Controls/IT communities
  • Provide strategic and tactical leadership to project, engineering and site technical teams
  • Perform effective risk and issue management to minimize/mitigate risks and issues, including gap assessments and course-correct KPI gaps
  • Responsible for successful capital project execution (up to $20M annually)
