Background & Purpose of the Job
The Controls & Automation Lead is based in Raeford NC and will be responsible for Designing, developing, and supervising all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software. Ensures critical support for all production line related concerns while supporting continuous improvement projects and structured kaizen activities as both a leader and team member. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
Active participation in all Raeford projects for controls and IT upgrades.
Coordinate the Cyber Security for Raeford initiative for Raeford.
Lead the Network upgrade activities in Raeford. Attend weekly calls and give weekly updates to stake holders.
Ensure execution of jobs with respect to zero safety injury vision.

You will connect the dots between Engineering groups in the Factories and the Divisions, build relationships and work with Raeford Manufacturing team in providing solution with your knowledge. Taking and sharing best practice and thinking, bringing it into your work. There will also be external orientation for working with our OEM suppliers.

Core Responsibilities
  • Engineering:
    • Lead the controls and automation team across all shifts.
    • Build PMs for all the control components across the factory.
    • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, motor controls and IT needs.
    • Create and finalize designs to meet project requirements.
    • Create an accurate Bill of Materials.
    • Define equipment and parts from external suppliers.
    • Conduct cost and time estimation.
    • Responsible for system design, hardware (panel, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, electrical, network etc.) design and software design with HMI.
    • Selection of Hardware with keeping in view of current installation.
  • Project Execution:
    • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
    • Electrical, software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. Able to maintain project scope and identify project creep.
    • Support manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, variable frequency drives, relays, communication networks, HMI touchscreens, and more.
    • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
    • Ability to architect programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile.
    • Understands/Able to gather required Information from and make document for supplier including Functional Requirement Specifications, P&IDs, C&Es, Drawings, Narratives.
  • Project Completion:
    • Maintain accurate records and files according to quality standard.
    • Commission customized products and systems onsite and at customer facilities.
    • Train operators and engineers on control systems.
    • Develop electrical and control panel schematics.

What You'll Need to Succeed
Essential
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering (or similar field of study).
  • 3+ years related job experience in Controls and Network infrastructure.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000, Indusoft, AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of control and electrical system design and its application in automated industrial designs including specification of vision, power, sensor, inspection, and communications systems.
  • Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
  • Critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects.

Pay: The pay range for this position is $83,200 to $124,700. Unilever takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are utilized in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs.
Bonus: This position is bonus eligible.
Long-Term Incentive (LTI): This position is LTI eligible.
