Controller - Clare Holdings (North Aurora)

Clare Holdings is the parent company to Euclid Beverage, the largest Miller-Coors distributor in Illinois and to Merchants Market, a Florida based company with the largest broadline distribution in the Leeward Islands.
Job Summary:
The Controller will support the Euclid Beverage operations. In this role, the Controller will prepare financial statements, record journal entries, maintain account reconciliation schedules, supervise staff Accountants, and update/maintain policies and procedures.
This position is part of the support team at Clare Holdings, located in North Aurora, and is responsible for the financial operations of the Euclid Beverage division.
Essential Functions:
• Prepares and distributes monthly/quarterly/yearly financial statements.
• Develops annual budgets and quarterly forecasts.
• Prepares auditing schedules and implements needed changes.
• Supervises and develops/mentors accounting staff.
• Supervises the monthly financial closing process by entering journal entries, reconciling various general ledger accounts, and providing account analysis and support for the Euclid Division.
• Contributes to the decision-making process at all levels of the company.
• Maintains a strong internal control environment with an emphasis on standardizing business transactions and separation of duties.
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required, CPA preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a distribution environment.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software and have advanced MS Excel skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Able to work in an office environment and lift up to 25 pounds.
