Job Summary:
Trimble is looking to hire a control systems engineer intern to work on control systems solutions, which are integrated in the automatic machine control products for the industries Trimble serves.
The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) develops positioning and control products for earthmoving and paving machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GPS, optical total stations, lasers and sonics. This role will allow the candidate to gain industry experience by working closely with software and firmware engineers, hardware engineers, and product marketing.
Under the mentorship of senior engineers, you will design, develop and validate technical requirements, architecture and algorithms for machine automation and guidance. You will also design, develop, implement and verify software and firmware requirements and document/implement test cases and procedures.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Loves to solve real world engineering and technical problems through collaboration with others. Enrolled at an accredited university in a graduate or undergraduate (e.g. PhD, Masters or Bachelors) program for one of the following disciplines:
- Computer Science Engineering
- Control Systems Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Aerospace Engineering
- Robotics
- Experience with Matlab and Simulink and/or C++ and/or Python
- Experience working with Big Data - e.g., build models that determine how machines or vehicles operate in real time during customer workflows.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Knowledge of Data Mining and Machine Learning. Prior experience building neural networks on small scale projects is highly desirable.
- Batch processing of Large Data Sets
- Knowledge of Advanced Engineering Mathematics, including Linear Algebra
- Knowledge of Signal Processing, including digital filter design

Trimble provides the following compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that it in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position. This compensation range is based on a full time schedule. Trimble reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, or federal law.
