Contractor Citizenship Teacher

Contractor Position: ESL Teacher Online:

Purpose: To teach Limited English Proficient immigrant and refugees English and Civics to prepare them for Citizenship class. Casses are online and in person in office.

Responsibilities:

1. Teaching civics courses on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30pm - 5:30pm in person or 6pm - 7:30pm online.

-providing additional 2 hours to come in before class to prepare for class.

2. Teaches students utilizing current effective teaching methods that is effective online.

3. Administers and/or coordinates administration of proficiency tests.

Assist in recording and interprets proficiency test results.

4. Maintains/monitors records of students.

5. Designs and produces online teaching materials and adapts existing materials.

6. Attends meetings and cooperates with bilingual classroom volunteers.

7. Complies with funding regulations regarding ESL/Citizenship records, reports, and services.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor Degree in areas of Education, English or Linguistics OR Valid Teacher’s Certificate in English as a Second Language

2. One or more years teaching experience in a respected adult literacy program

3. Familiar with Zoom online and Google classroom

4. Knowledge of effective strategies for academic learning

5. Team Leadership experience.

6. Experience in designing and producing teaching materials.

7. Experience in administering standardized assessment (such as the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System – CASAS) but not required, will train.

8. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

9. Sensitivity to needs of low-income and culturally diverse client population.

10. Computer literacy.

11. English and Vietnamese preferred, but not required.

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
