Title I Homeless Art Therapy Contracted Service
$25/hour with additional compensation for planning
This position will be working with homeless students on-site at Davis Child Shelter and Sojourner's Shelter 2-3 days per week, 1-2 hours per day to provide Art Therapy services. The successful applicant will work with students in primary and secondary education levels to expand our services to our KCS homeless students in other ways in addition to academic tutoring and mentoring. Art therapy can be a powerful support to students in times of need. The Title I department will purchase any materials/instruments that would be needed and secure them in a room when unused. An art/music therapy degree is not required for this position.
-The successful applicant will consult with the shelter director regarding specific needs for each student.
-The successful applicant will meet with a homeless facilitator at least monthly to review students' progress.
-The successful applicant will develop his/her work schedule under the guidance of the shelter director.
-The successful applicant will follow the Kanawha County Schools procedures for school visits by signing in and out of the building before and after each visit.
Qualification:
A WVDE teaching certification is preferred.
