Summary

Contract Resident Engineers monitor various construction projects including CM @ Risk, new construction, renovations, demolitions, environmental remediation, energy, and water conservation projects including large retrofits, commissioning, and installation of renewable energy technology.

Contract Resident Engineers observe and document daily construction activities to monitor job progress and to ensure the work of the Contractor complies with project plans and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work with designer, contractor, and Project Manager/Project Engineer to maintain quality control, ensure appropriate construction methods, procedures, and safety requirements; oversee adherence to contract documents and compliance with relevant codes and regulations, including accessibility codes and guidelines.
• Assist the designer/consultant team with the scheduling and coordination of all on site testing and ensuring that tests are conducted properly.
• Maintain accurate project records; ensure contractor as-builts are up to date; and assist with the oversight of MEP and Enclosure Commissioning, utility incentives, punch list, project close-out and delivery/turn-over from construction to user agency operations.
• Participate in Facility Performance Evaluations and preparation of the general contractor performance evaluation.

Multiple contract engineer positions open at statewide project locations; contract with good prospect for extensions.

Preferred Qualifications

Applicants should have a minimum of a BS/BA degree in Engineering, Architecture or field providing equivalent expertise and at least five (5) years related experience. A minimum of ten years (10) supervisory construction experience will be considered in lieu of a BS/BA degree.
Licensed Construction Supervisor preferred.

Qualified applicants will possess a thorough knowledge of building construction methods and familiarity with applicable state/federal codes.
