Continuous Improvement Manager:

So, what will you be doing?
The Continuous Improvement Manager role is a combination of leadingContinuous Improvement projects determined as business critical from seniorlevel executives and implementing the executive approved projects within themany facets of Drax. The Continuous Improvement Manager will be responsible tolead process improvement initiative across Drax facilities.
Who you are?
Key Accountabilities:
  • Trend and Analyze Data for operational in-efficiencies and use problem solving tools to solve top problems across the operational down time pareto.
  • Drives "bottom-line" performance improvement in critical operational performance areas such as cost, labor productivity, customer service, quality, safety, compliance and people management.
  • Lead large standardization and improvement initiatives that span multiple departments and business units. Partner with process owners to develop and maintain consistent processes, roles and responsibilities, and accountabilities.
  • Develop project scopes to realize improvement initiatives and work with H1 Capital Team to execute capital projects. This includes defining the scope, developing the project budget, and calculating benefits/paybacks.
  • Position will partner with the PMO team to drive timely execution of projects and proper reporting to senior management.
  • Utilizing performance management, problem solving, and lean/six sigma tools as well as training, coaching, and influence skills to achieve specific organizational change and financial objectives.
  • Works as a team leader to Manufacturing, Quality, and Process Engineers
  • Train and coach process owners, champions, process improvement leaders, and project teams in the use of improvement tools and methodology to ensure timely completion of projects
  • Establish prioritization of projects with Plant Management that will deliver best possible financial impacts and provide timely and accurate input to annual budgets and forecasts
  • Help Plant management implement facility based KPI's, monitor KPI results, explain variances, resolve gaps in performance to ensure sustainability

Knowledge, Skills and Experiencerequired:
  • This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Industrial/Production Engineering and/or manufacturing discipline with knowledge and experience in applying Continuous Improvement techniques (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or similar). A Master's Degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering is a plus, based on complexity of the job.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in a fast pace highly technical environment. Consideration will be given to candidates having experience equivalent to required education with a minimum of a green belt using identified tools, and/or proven track record in process improvement.
  • Needs to be familiar with Six Sigma methodologies such as DMAIC, Agile, 8D, and 5S Strong problem-solving skills
  • Must be data-driven and possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of process/value stream mapping and FMEA
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to learn other applications related to the job
  • Must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize workload
  • Compensation will consist of a competitive salary and benefits

Desired Skills:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in wood processing
  • Experience in industrial drying and energy systems (Wood burning furnaces, rotary drum dryers, WESPs, RTOs)
  • Interest and ability to understand PLC logic, HMI function and how it all works together to impact the process
  • Experience with process data historian systems (DataParc/Parcview experience a plus) (I moved this from required to desired)
  • Six Sigma Certification (GB or BB)
  • Strong data analysis skills (Minitab experience is a plus)
  • Lean/Continuous Improvement experience

Special Features:
The candidate selected must be ableto work inside and outside the plant in all-weather conditions and be willingto travel. Travel estimatedto be 50%
