Qualifications and skills
Education - CI Knowledge: A deep understanding of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing is key to delivering the requirements of the role. Experience of managing a multi-functional team in a high-speed process environment for a minimum of 5 years is essential. Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering, business, management or a related discipline.
Technical
Builds Effective Teams: The ability to lead through development & education of others is essential. Instils Trust: To be respected and seen as a credible source of knowledge by the site leadership team is essential. Achieved by having an in-depth knowledge of all technologies and processes onsite. Strategic Mindset: The ability to align the site strategy with that of the overall organization. The ability to deploy the site strategy throughout the business, ensuring that every team member knows how they contribute to the site goals. The ability to communicate targets & goals in a clear concise fashion at all levels within the business. Very proficient with the use of Microsoft office suite. Experience of facilitating group problem solving sessions. The ability to work with every function at every level within the business, conversing knowledgably in their language to help achieve principal accountabilities.
Ensures Accountability: An insatiable appetite for better performance is essential. Devotion to standardization ensuring a system is in place to manage every process on site. To be very structured and disciplined in adherence to standards set and hold others accountable if they are not being followed. Key responsibilities
- Support the development of lean manufacturing processes; Continuous Improvement, standard work, problem solving, value stream mapping, training and employee involvement.
- Lead, teach and coach employees at all levels on lean manufacturing processes.
- Facilitate the development of and maintain the site implementation plan for the lean manufacturing operating system.
- Drive lean training and implement a lean toolkit utilizing PDCA; value stream mapping; quick changeovers; Kaizen, problem solving, 5S, etc.
- Lead Continuous Improvement events resulting in employee skill and knowledge development and KPI performance improvements.
- Using tracking and reporting systems, prepares plans, drives performance, and assures timely completion and achievement of product/process quality and savings goals
- Identifies barriers to success and solicits help from leadership when needed.
