Job Title:Continuous Improvement and Reliability (CI&R) Specialist

Job Summary:  

The Continuous Improvement and Reliability (CI&R) Specialist will support the various company Operations teams in the implementation and sustainment of a world-class Asset Management program using Lean/SixSigma and Reliability-Centered Maintenance processes. Leads improvement activities in all aspects of the business, focusing on operational Continuous Improvement processes, waste reduction, and problem-solving methods through the use of lean principles, tools, concepts, and methodologies.  Works with leaders to advance team capabilities in critical thinking and analysis of issues to identify root cause solutions. Works with departments to improve the overall safety record of the plant, ensures all departments have identified appropriate CI projects, and ensures projects are progressing within projected timelines.  Acts as a resource to Account and Site Operations teams to facilitate problem solving, and assist in identifying waste and improvement opportunities, instruct on appropriate process improvement methods, and lead effective implementation and use of Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and methods.  Conducts training for associates at all levels in the organization about lean principles, concepts, methodologies, and in the use of tools, concepts and other tools as deemed appropriate and necessary to ensure timely completion of projects to deliver planned results. Leads (facilitates) the Criticality Analysis, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), and PM Program Optimization processes at sites.  Identifies and proposes process improvements to improve equipment and personnel performance and reduce overall costs.  Incorporates components, materials, and tools of world class maintenance programs and processes that result in cost-effective and quality output.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Assist account and site operations teams in implementing improvement activities (kaizen and other such events)in all aspects of the business, focusing on operational Continuous Improvement processes, waste reduction, and problem-solving methods through the use of lean principles, tools, concepts, and methodologies
  • Create and conduct team and individual training sessions on appropriate aspects of the CI&R program and initiatives including lean principles, concepts, methodologies, and the use of tools, concepts, and other tools to better implement these within the operations team
  • Lead Improvement Opportunities through application of appropriate Kaizen Events to include waste reduction (Lean) and Continuous Improvement (SixSigma) processes; where applicable, provide expertise (facilitate) for site and account DMAIC and RCA efforts
  • Facilitate group efforts to create appropriate FMEA’s on all critical equipment as preparation for the implementation of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) processes
  • Identify opportunities for Continuous Improvement and/or Best Practice efforts; lead efforts to implement by working with all stakeholders to improve the performance of maintenance effort, people, and other processes to achieve maximum performance
  • Assist in reviews and validations of the maintenance program in order to validate application of best practice procedures and frequencies, leading to Program Optimization and most effective implementation of routine, predictive, and condition-based maintenance practices
  • Leads efforts to perform Criticality Analyses on all systems and equipment by facilitating teams of customer and Operations to ensure most efficient use of resources are applied according to industry-leading standards
  • Provides expert-level CMMS expertise at the account level, identifying and correcting potential gaps in training, data management, and reporting
  • Performs any other duties as deemed necessary by the Operations and CI&R leadership

Qualifications:    

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent from an accredited college or university; or 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in applying the concepts of Continuous Improvement (Lean/SixSigma) in a manufacturing facility and or commercial office maintenance environment.
  • CMMS platform experience required.
  • Significant Maintenance program experience is required
  • Lean/SixSigma certification is strongly preferred; Ability to achieve Green Belt certification within 12 months
  • CMRP certification desired; or the ability to achieve such certification within 24 months
  • Ability to interpret (and explain) documents such as process (flow) diagrams, operations, and maintenance data.
  • Ability to write detailed reports, presentations, and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization 
  • Advanced MS Excel knowledge including Pivot tables and formulas.
  • Experience with Smart Sheet (collaborative software) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Tableau is a strong plus.
  • Ability to understand technical concepts
  • Possess good interpersonal, leadership, organizational and self-management skills.
  • Pro-active ability to work without supervision and shift work priorities, deal appropriately with multiple deadlines
  • Good communication with and respect for co-workers and their property, vendors, and client
  • Strong customer satisfaction focus – meets expectations of internal customers. Resolves quality problems impacting customers.
  • Excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills
