Job Description

Entice Phoenix & Tucson television audiences to watch Noticiero Telemundo Arizona local newscasts by conceptualizing, creatively writing, producing, and editing superior daily news topicals and on-air image campaigns using a non-linear edit system.

  • Under tight deadlines, works closely with the news department, news Executive Producer, Creative Services Director, and Vice President of News to execute the strategic goals targeted to an audience with specific interests & demographics.
  • Attends news planning and research meetings.
  • Creatively writes, produces, edits, and uploads content to social media platforms as needed.
  • Creatively writes, produces, and edits on-air news image campaigns and promotions.
  • Creatively writes newscast headlines, teases, and news story content.
  • Write and update stories, including breaking news for TV and digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with the assignment desk, producers, and reporters to research and produce news segments and other content and place them on the proper platforms when needed.
  • Use desktop editing systems to edit videos, including breaking news.
  • Coordinate and watch the streaming of breaking news, live events, and newscasts on our platforms.
  • Monitor various video sources to find content that would appeal to our audiences.
  • Support reporters, anchors, and photographers with content needs.
  • Assisted in the control room and back-up line producer when needed.
  • Fill in as line producer when needed.
Qualifications
  • Spanish language fluency – both written and verbal.
  • Have a strong connection to local news and storytelling.
  • Two years of promotion experience writing, producing, and editing daily news topicals preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to edit on non-linear editing systems.
  • Creative solid copywriting skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of television production procedures and news operations with a background in on-air promotions, journalism, or mass communication.
  • Able to work in a demanding environment on multiple projects simultaneously and produce engaging promos under tight deadlines.
  • Exposure to developing an on-air marketing strategy.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Have an active driver’s license and excellent driving record.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adhere to strict deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to work well without constant supervision.
  • Have a high degree of integrity and professionalism.
  • Initiative-taker and proactive thinker with strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must be willing to work at the station in Phoenix, AZ, location.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
