Form of workKPNX/12News, the NBC affiliate in Phoenix, is looking for a Content Editor with a burning passion for journalism to help keep our assignment desk and the station ahead of the competition.

We require at least two years of experience on an assignment desk or breaking news team for this position.
The ideal candidate will:
- Exercise strong news judgment
- Review and respond to news releases, news tips, emails, user generated content and social media messages to identify unique, local and engaging content
- Build relationships with news sources in both institutions and the community
- Provide broadcast and digital content creators with timely information
- Coordinate the movement of crews and reporters
- Have a mania for accuracy and getting information correct
- Be able to communicate clearly and completely with digital producers, line producers, reporters and executive producers
- Have a command presence in the room, leading the conversation and the charge
- Be proficient at social listening and developing stories through digital sourcing
- Be familiar with compiling spreadsheets and databases
- Be a clean writer who is able to write breaking news as it happens
- Have a graduate or undergraduate degree in journalism, mass communications or digital journalism, or the equivalent experience
- Monitoring scanners, email and other ways the public accesses the station for breaking news and feature leads
- Planning or assisting in the planning of daily, weekly and event coverage
- Writing breaking news stories
- Being responsible for assigning and moving crews
- A graduate or undergraduate degree in journalism, mass communications or digital journalism, or the equivalent experience
- At least two years of newsroom experience
- Passing a writing and geography test
- Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
- Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
