The Contact Lens Technician shall be responsible for ordering, fitting and dispensing contacts, maintaining Contact Lens trials or Contact Lens inventory, and documenting the patient encounters.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reviews prescriptions to determine the specifications for Contact Lenses.
- Recommends appropriate Contact Lenses after considering the prescription and the patient's lifestyle needs.
- Accurately fits all varieties of Contact Lenses, under supervision of optometrist.
- Verifies information in the fitting of contacts by using a lensometer and slit lamp to order’s specification(s). May obtain patient’s previous record in order to re-make contacts or may verify prescription with the examining optometrist or ophthalmologist.
- Instructs patients about adapting to, wearing, and caring for Contact Lenses.
- Documents patient care and treatment in electronic medical record. Follows safety, infection control, and quality assurance protocols.
- Verifies Vision Insurance coverage prior to ordering Contact Lenses for patients.
- Completes Contact Lens order sheet completely and orders Contact Lenses. Calls patients to place orders and notify patients of back orders or order arrivals.
- Submits insurance claims for patient Contact Lens orders.
- Becomes familiar with diagnosis codes for Contact Lenses and refraction.
- Orders Contact Lens trials, trial sets, solution, cases or other items required.
- Opens boxes and puts away new product, trial lenses and solutions.
- Monitors phone, phone message line and incoming faxes.
- Understands Contact Lens distributor's online ordering processes. Verifies orders on third party Contact Lens sites.
- Meets with Contact Lens vendors.
- Completes all tasks prior to leaving at the end of the day.

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
