Job Summary:
The Consumer Loan Underwriter provides underwriting of new Consumer Loans. The function includes the review of a member's loan request and review of all supporting documentation used for the underwriting of the loan for accurate decisions in accordance with credit union policies and procedures.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Evaluate Consumer Loan requests. Obtain and analyze credit reports and acceptable credit information.
- Verify credit information when necessary. Determine debt to income ratio, unsecured ratio, collateral valuation and general loan quality.
- Review all supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance of the loan application.
- Decision loan applications promptly to ensure regulation requirements are adhered to.
- Decision loan requests within lending authority as described in the Board Policy Manual.
- Provide service excellence to members and co-workers.
- Identify “2nd Approval” opportunities and document same in loan notes.
- Assist the Credit Union in meeting loan volume, delinquency, and charge off targets.
- Promote loan products and maintain knowledge of existing or pending loan promotions.
- Complete all assigned annual compliance training and stay updated on all underwriting regulations.
