Position Summary
The Consumer Loan Administrator will lead the overall management and strategic planning of the Consumer Loan portfolio within all regions of the bank. This role involves not only ensuring efficient loan origination processes but also mentoring and instructing regional consumer lenders and branch personnel with consumer lending abilities to ensure adherence to bank policies, regulatory guidelines, and excellent customer service standards. The position operates with limited credit authority.
Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities

  1. Consumer Loan Production:
    1. Responsible for growth of individual loan portfolio and achieving loan production goals, deposit production goals, and referral goals.
    2. Manage and oversee the entire Consumer Loan origination process, from application to approval and disbursement.
    3. Collaborate with consumers to understand their financial needs, provide information about loan options, and guide them through the application process.
    4. Review loan applications and credit documentation for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to bank policies.
    5. Follow current loans to ensure complete conformity with terms and identification of developing trends.
    6. Develop and implement effective strategies for the acquisition, underwriting, and servicing of Consumer Loans to drive growth and profitability.
    7. Work with your regional group of branch associates to provide guidance and training to promote Consumer Loan growth in all assigned branch locations in your region.
    8. Work with your regional consumer lenders to provide guidance and strategic direction to ensure the overall Consumer Loan production goals and referral goals are achieved for each region.
    9. Work with your regional consumer lenders and assigned branches to approve/correct/clear/mitigate loan exceptions (financial, covenant, collateral, etc.) as needed.
  2. Regional Lender Mentoring and Instruction:
    1. Provide guidance and mentorship to regional consumer lenders, ensuring a consistent understanding of loan products, policies, and procedures.
    2. Provide leadership to your regional team as well as the regional consumer lenders, fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance, and ethical behavior.
    3. Work closely with regional consumer lenders to share best practices and ensure a consistent approach to consumer lending across the bank.
  3. Customer Service & Relationship Management:
    1. Address customer inquiries, concerns, and issues promptly, maintaining the bank's reputation for outstanding customer service.
    2. Identify cross-selling opportunities including deposit, digital, credit cards, cash management products, etc. and referring businesses to other internal partners.
    3. Foster positive relationships with customers by providing excellent service throughout the loan application and approval process.
    4. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including consumers and community groups while representing First Guaranty Bank.
  4. Data Analysis & Reporting:
    1. Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to loan production, performance, and trends.
    2. Continuously monitor and report on regional and bank performance to the Customer Experience Director by highlighting key metrics, providing insights, trends, and recommendations.
    3. Track and report on past dues in both your individual portfolio and the overall Consumer Loan portfolio for First Guaranty Bank.
    4. Monitor key lending metrics and develop action plans to achieve targets and performance goals for your team, your region and self.
  5. Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
    1. Manage the risk in the loan portfolio through sound underwriting standards, compliance with regulatory requirements, and proactive portfolio management.
    2. Adhere to BSA/AML policy and all other bank policies.
  6. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)
  • High school diploma or equivalent, college degree preferred.
  • 5 years lending experience. May substitute for related experience at management discretion.
  • Formal credit training preferred.
  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting principles, risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer applications and banking systems.
  • Ability to travel as required to meet business needs.
