Job Description
Construction Superintendent
To oversee and supervise the successful construction process, from commencement to completion. The Site Superintendent is accountable for the overall supervision of all operations on the site. Plans & coordinates the separate processes of the construction job. Ensures that the quality of work and materials is upheld and, that workers are implementing what is contained in the design plan. Monitors the workers and the progress of the project, and reports to the Project Manager.
Responsibilities: A partial list of the Site Superintendent’s managerial roles includes:
- Knowledgeable in building and construction
- Works closely and consults with the Project Manager
- Is familiar with building codes, and keeps current with any changes
- Responsible for jobsite SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Protection Plan)
- Maintain an onsite presence, is available for consultation, clarification and problem solving
- Work with government inspectors on the standard code, license & safety requirements
- Oversees the delivery of materials, construction tools and equipment
- Give direction to the jobsite workforce
- Manages and interfaces with a variety of sub-contractors.
- Coordinates construction processes to deliver the project on time, within budget
- Ensures CCI employees have the necessary materials, tools and equipment
- Monitors and oversees the construction project and staff; while maintaining quality, performance, worksite safety and time schedules - to final completion
- Has oversight of all company tools, equipment, and materials on site. Ensures they are maintained properly and returned to the main facility at the conclusion of the project.
- Responsible for all on-site inspections (e.g. site safety, equipment pre-use, SWPPP, etc.)
- Ensures that proper housekeeping procedures are maintained by site personnel
JobSpecific/Communications/Computer Skills:
- Reads, interprets, and works from drawings, sketches, and blue prints.
- Be detail oriented, and able to visualize a finished project.
- Comprehension & problem solving skills, able to use logic and reason.
- Communication, social and interpersonal skills are required.
- Must be able to supervise effectively, and convey information successfully.
- Be a team leader, with the ability to multitask.
- Requires strong analytical & mathematical skills, able to make accurate measurements
- Is an excellent face-to-face, telephone and electronic media communicator.
- Capability to work on a computer/laptop
