Project Superintendent Job Description
Overall supervision and responsibility for each paving project including (but not limited to) the following:
A. Communicate with Operations Manager regarding schedule of manpower, equipment, trucks & materials
B. Assist in negotiating & pricing subcontractor work; monitor subcontractors performance
C. Maintaining project scheduling, including Schedule of Operations for Mass DOT projects
D. Work with owner to negotiate extra work orders and change orders as necessary
E. Maintain a safe, neat & clean workplace (within Company safety policy)
F. Submit all time sheets to payroll on a weekly basis (by noon Monday). Time sheets must be filled out showing your employees on that day with start & finish times, job location & job numbers.
G. Submit material & rental slips to Operations Manager on a daily basis; if bringing them to yard is not possible, send with triaxle or crew truck; photos of receipts & slips are acceptable until originals can be sent to Melrose; verify times, quantities, condition of material received, waiting time, etc. so AP can process invoices
H. Keep daily log (Outlook or diary) to include quantities agreed with resident or owner’s rep, all subcontract items and materials used; maintain subcontractor quantities per requisition period
I. Report equipment breakdowns & maintenance needs to Operations Manager; keep all small tool items in good working order
J. Responsible for preparation and/or review of monthly or bi-monthly requisitions/estimates, depending on job
K. Attend all meetings as required
L. Maintain positive relationship with awarding authority or project owner representative
M. Report all accidents & personal injury to Operations Manager, Office Manager & Safety Manager; fill out and submit all necessary paperwork
N. Keep all dig safe numbers updated
O. Obtain purchase order numbers from office for all purchases; after hours, obtain purchase order numbers from Operations Manager
P. Review/Approve subcontractor & vendor invoices from Accounts Payable in a timely manner; e-mail approvals are acceptable
Q. Take photos and/or a video of job for safety control in order to avoid future liability issues; take pictures of entire job site including signs, drums, message boards, etc.
R. Take photos and/or a video of abutters including landscaping, walls, fences, etc. in order to avoid future liability issues
S. Communicate job limits/locations on a daily basis to trucking clerk for payroll processing
T. Mass DOT Jobs – submittals & EBO requirements (including MBE/DBE, Women, Minority requirements) handled on a job-by-job basis
U. Bring any Union issues to the attention of the owner and he will address
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
