This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects. Availability to work nights and weekends may rarely be required.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, GRID Alternatives may not provide vehicles for work travel but will provide travel reimbursement for work-related personal vehicle use, and the applicant must hold a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Hourly pay commensurate with experience with a pay band of $20-$28 per hour.

The Opportunity...
The Construction Solar Installer is a key member of our installation crews in the field.
- Support the installations of solar electric systems with crews of volunteers and/or job trainees
- Solar equipment installation. Safety Equipment, Standoffs, Racking, Module-level electronics, Conduit Bending, Wire and Wire Management, Module Installation
- Training SolarCorps members, Volunteers, and Job Training participants in all phases of solar installation, with a focus on safety and quality of work
- Load for jobs, reset vehicles for next days build
- Performing Inspections, running permits, delivering equipment to job sites
What you need to bring to this role...
- Some experience with residential and/or commercial scale PV systems
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to travel throughout target territory
- Excellent communication skills (ability to work with volunteers and clients, ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively to diverse populations)
- Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and work effectively and respectfully within diverse teams
- Flexibility and willingness to embrace change, go the extra mile, and bring ideas and energy to a rapidly growing organization
- Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
- Travel throughout the Sacramento region
- The core of what we do at Grid Alternatives Construction is training. The most successful candidates for this position are driven and always looking for more experience

It would be great if you also had...
- PV design experience or NABCEP Certification
- Passion for sustainability, affordable housing, the environment, or environmental justice, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place
- Experience in training and/or working with volunteers
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Sketchup or AutoCAD
- Bilingual English/Spanish
