Construction Oversight Representative

 

All Locations (on-site required)

 

The Construction Oversight Representative we are looking for is located in Westborough, Massachusetts.  On a daily basis, you will coordinate activities with our customer’s team members, connect and collaborate with their additional Vendors, General Contractors and Sub-Contractors to oversee the delivery of the best possible project outcome. In this live Network Data Center, you will exercise your creative problem solving and teamwork skills to complete exciting, complex telecommunication construction projects for one of the largest wireless carriers in the U.S.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  • One of your top priorities is to manage the project for “on-time” and “on-budget” delivery.
  • You will implement and hold all parties accountable to the SOW.
  • Manage the construction with a ZERO outage goal and ensure the operating facility is always in immaculate condition.
  • You will oversee:
    • Data Center / MSC building expansion.
    • UPS Power system installation and commission
    • HVAC decommissioning and removal
    • AC Power installation and commission
    • Standby Generator installation and commission
    • HVAC installation and commission
    • Installation of building control systems Building Automation System (BAS), Building Management System (BMS)
    • Integration and Commissioning of all building systems
  • As the trusted partner of our customer, you will ensure that all projects are in compliance with safety requirements.
  • As the Oversight Representative, you will monitor staffing and onsite personnel levels to ensure that deadlines from the SOW and near terms schedule can be met and are staffed appropriately.
  • You will serve as the primary standard reviewer, making sure that all of the following items are in compliance with the customer’s policies:
    • Clarifications
    • RFIs
    • ASIs
    • Submittals
    • Change Orders
    • Project budget
  • You will provide assurance that the construction is on track with the plans and specifications and within network design standards.
  • As the customer’s key on-site representative, you will establish positive relationships on their behalf with members of local municipalities, such as City Inspector, Waste and Groundwater Inspector, Fire Marshall, Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector and Mechanical Inspector.
  • Each day, you will report project activities and submit via a daily log within customer software.
  • As the eyes and ears for the customer, you will facilitate the A&E coordination, GC, and subcontractors for weekly meetings to make sure everyone is on the same page working towards successful project completion and escalate issues as necessary.
  • You will use your Vertex-provided iPad to record progress photos and memorialize project progress and/or issues.
  • Every month, you’ll supply the customer with a fully loaded monthly project status update report so that they can rest assured their project is in the right hands.
  • On behalf of the customer, you’ll review and submit (upon approval) monthly Pay Application for payment.
  • You will complete the required training as assigned. Some training may be required to be completed prior to starting the project (training may include but not limited to COR training in Vertex Training Cloud, OSHA30 Construction, Workforce Diversity and NSC Vehicle Safety training).

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Minimum of 10 years construction management experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in Mission Critical / DATA Center Construction
  • Extensive background / knowledge working in/with:
    • Telecom
    • Commercial electrical work
    • Emergency generators,
    • PLCs (Power Logic Controllers)
    • EMSBs (Emergency Switch Boards)
    • Cooling Towers
    • (CRAC) Computer Room Air Conditioners
    • (CRAH) Computer Room Air Handler
    • (AHU) Air Handling Units
    • HVAC Systems
    • AC power systems
    • DC power
    • Maintenance window
    • Data Centers, Mobile Switching Centers, and/or Central Offices
    • Generators, Medium Voltage Electrical Switch Gear and Chilled Water Systems including AHU’s, Cooling Towers and Control’s.
    • and any other major electrical/Mechanical components associated with Mission Critical Data Center builds.
  • A solid understanding of Building Architecture, Mechanical, Building Automation System (BAS) Electrical, Structural and Fire Protection.
  • Experience in all Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) construction.
  • Extensive background, experience, and knowledge of OSHA guidelines and standards including lockout / tag out procedures
  • Experience in the Method of Procedure (MOP) process
  • Experience commissioning data center systems

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud. 

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This full-time position is exempt. Days and hours of work may fluctuate based on the needs of the client and the project.  The minimum work requirement is 45 hours each week. The projects are predominantly scheduled for day shift construction activities, however, project will require “maintenance window” work, which is considered night shift.

 

Applicant must be able to work flexible schedules, including but not limited to, all nights, days, weekends, and holidays if necessary to accommodate all construction activities related to the projects.

Compensation:

Base: minimum starting at $90,000 per year DOE

Health Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD/STD, Life-AD&D with Benefits Supplement

Retirement: 401(k), discretionary Pension and Profit Sharing; subject to Plan documents

PTO: 15 Days (prorated based on start date)

Paid Holidays: 8
