Job Description: Construction Lead Project Manager
Position: Experienced Laborer/Lead Position
Department: Construction
Reports To: Construction Supervisor/Manager/Owner
Position Summary: The Experienced/Lead Laborer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily activities of a construction team focused on the erection and completion of pole barn structures. This individual ensures that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established specifications and timelines. The main components of these projects include running heavy equipment, framing, concrete prep/pour/finish work, roof and siding installation, and occasional small retaining walls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination:
- Supervise and direct the activities of construction crew members.
- Coordinate with the Project Manager to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Ensure that all work meets quality standards and adheres to construction codes.
- Site Preparation and Safety:
- Conduct site assessments and ensure proper safety protocols are in place.
- Organize and manage the distribution of materials and equipment.
- Order appropriate material when necessary.
- Ensure a clean and organized work environment.
- Help keep up on vehicle and equipment maintenance.
- Construction Tasks:
- Oversee the layout, assembly, and installation of pole barn components.
- Monitor and ensure the proper alignment, leveling, and anchoring of structures.
- Address any on-site challenges or issues promptly and efficiently.
- Team Leadership:
- Train and mentor construction crew members, ensuring they adhere to best practices.
- Address any performance or behavioral issues as they arise.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Tracks and documents other team members’ time and reports daily back to Project Manager.
- Keeps log and captures images of daily work performed and reports to the Project Manager daily/as needed.
- Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the crew and the Project Manager.
- Communicate project updates, challenges, and milestones effectively.
- Collaborate with team members, subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and Project Manager.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure workmanship meets quality standards.
- Address any defects or deficiencies promptly, ensuring they are corrected.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in construction (framing, concrete, heavy equipment, roofing, siding).
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor, operate equipment, and climb ladders/heights.
- Ability to take constructive criticism and be able to provide the same to others.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in various weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
- Must be able to carry a 60 lbs bag of concrete.
