CONSTRUCTION INSPECTOR
Description
Construction Inspector will observe and document construction progress to ensure works are being carried out according to the desired quality, as stated in the contract documents, including architect’s plans and specifications. The Inspector will prepare and submit written reports with photos, including any issues that may have risen during the construction process, and submit them in a timely manner. Services shall be provided under a Professional Services Contract.
Responsibilities
· Reviews, understands, and becomes well-acquainted with all construction documents, including but not limited to contract documents, plans, specifications, schedules, certifications for payment.
· Visits construction site regularly and coordinates access with General Contractor
· Actively observes, verifies, and documents daily construction progress.
· Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
· Coordinates visits for important project milestones or construction activities that require special attention.
· Attends construction coordination meetings and assists the Project Manager in the resolution of issues that may arise during construction.
· Verifies, documents, and notifies of any issues, questions, and discrepancies to Project Manager and Designer in a timely manner, providing any relevant data or analysis to facilitate an adequate resolution.
· Monitors and documents the compliance of all Safety, Health, and Environmental requirements.
· Maintains a record of all submitted and approved documents, including Notices to Proceed, Requests for Information, Applications for Payment, Submittals, Reports, Punch Lists, among others.
· Contracted personnel shall make adequate use of personal protective equipment and follow other safety measures in all construction sites and wherever it’s required. This position requires travel to sites. Walking on rough or uneven surfaces and making use of ladders and temporary scaffolding might be necessary.
Requirements
· Architecture or Engineering Professional Degree (BArch, March, BEng)
· CAAPPR or CIAPR active membership
· Experience in construction inspection, five (5) years min.
· Valid Driver’s License, and the means to travel to project sites.
· Knowledge of local codes and regulations
· Computer skills: Microsoft Office proficiency required. Knowledge of AutoCAD, Sketchup, Adobe and other design and project management software is preferred.
· Oriented to be a Team Player and a facilitator.
· Time-management skills to meet deadlines.
· Initiative and curiosity to observe, verify and understand issues.
· Organizational and Problem-Solving Skills
· English and Spanish Fluency.
· Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills
· Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
· Willingness to learn, grow and improve.
· Availability to work 40 hours a week, for 12 months.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
