LAKE SUPERIOR CONSULTING is currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a position as a Construction Foreman at our office in Pittsburgh, PA or Houston, TX.
The Construction Foreman is responsible for coordinating operations and overseeing construction technicians and equipment operators during job preparation, travel time, construction activities, and project close-out. Other responsibilities include safely traveling, installing, monitoring, and maintaining client integrity management systems per applicable documents that will ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary field LSC contact for the Project Manager
- Promoting a team-based environment
- Facilitating site safety meetings (Tailgate)
- Be an advocate and ensure team understanding for safe work practices by understanding, complying, and communicating construction and excavation safety practices and policies
- Ensure all company, state, and local jurisdiction codes, traffic control, ground disturbance, and restoration policies are followed and met.
- Ability to help guide and grow construction technicians to understand the construction process
- Ensuring LSC field personnel maintain equipment, tools, and vehicles so that they are in safe working condition
- Reporting any unsafe conditions or AOCs (abnormal operating conditions) to client and project manager/CP Supervisor
- Understand and assist employee’s compliance with all DOT driving requirements
- Filling out and submitting LSC and client required forms and other project safety documents
- Complete constructability reviews to determine presence of obstructions or potential issues
- Providing input on construction proposals, including cost and schedule estimating which includes:
- In the planning phase, identifying all field resources including personnel, equipment, and long-lead materials
- Understanding of work scope and costs associated with the project to ensure timelines and budgets are followed
- Understanding and interpreting technical drawings and bid documents
- Identifying and monitoring project risks (safety, cost, schedule, quality), and addressing risks expeditiously
- Communicating project deadlines and requirements with field execution personnel and ensuring they understand their responsibilities
- Produce daily updates to construction schedules and monitor attendance of crews; Identify, verify, and report any scheduling conflicts, needs or deficiencies
- Coordinate tasks and activities among field technicians according to priorities and plans, ensuring manpower and resources are adequate
- Ensuring all materials and equipment are available and shipped prior to being required at site
- Ability to review Material Takeoff’s and/or Bill of Materials to ensure all required installation components are onsite in preparation for construction activities.
- Providing leadership that is consistent with the LSC model of integrity and quality to field personnel and clients, while always acting in the best interest of the client by promoting a positive image
- Develop client relationships through trust and client feedback
- Acting professionally and punctually, and ensuring LSC field personnel act the same way
- Maintain Vehicles, Construction Equipment, and Trailers to ensure proper functionality and that service intervals are followed.
- May be required to manage or lead projects field activates

Position Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- DOT health card
- Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain license within 1 year.
- Minimum of 5 years of construction experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the field of corrosion control relating to construction.
- 5 or more years related industry experience
- Minimum of 1 year of field leadership experience relating to field construction execution
- NACE Certified Cathodic Protection Tester (CP1) preferred
- Experience and Understanding of Utility Locates and their requirements
- Experience Operating Equipment (Skid steer, Mini-Excavator)
- Well organized and ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
- Analytical skills with ability to dissect problems and quickly develop solutions
- Understands evolving construction practices and standards, equipment and OSHA guidelines
- Ability to read drawings, plans and blueprints to determine construction plans and schedule.
- Knowledge of applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements (CFR 49 Part 192 & 195)
- Oil and gas industry and/or cathodic protection experience is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, DOT drug screen and random drug screening thereafter
Physical Requirements and Demands:
- Ability to travel and work extended hours to meet project requirements
- Ability to work in an office environment as well as travel to nonstandard workplaces to complete project and construction requirements
- Field work can be in a physically demanding environment, and may involve lifting product up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to travel to the field 80% of the time.
