New Orleans, Louisiana: Flexicrew Technical Services is now hiring a Construction Estimator for a Direct Hire opportunity.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Estimator will be responsible for the overall cohesion of the construction project preconstruction and bid phase. The Estimator will generate, manage and submit estimates required for sales, pre-construction and bidding efforts. In-charge of estimates, budget control and studies for projects and potential projects during business development, pre-construction and construction phases of a project and across all scopes, systems, and assemblies for Residential and Commercial Projects
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Oversee and direct pre-construction and bid phase of the projects from selection to project turn over, ensuring that bid packages and post bids are completed within the time. These tasks include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
Lead project lump sum bidding process.
Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Attend pre-bid meeting, site visits and additional conferences related to the bid process.
Effectively determine the bid strategies required for the company to be successful as well as plan, coordinate and supervise large
project estimates.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of various scopes of work.
Understanding of market labor, and commodity conditions and impacts on construction costs.
Build estimates based on a practical understanding of design, constructability, logistics, sequencing and means and methods of a
project.
Have a strong working knowledge of construction methods, processes, and management practices; excellent analytical and problem solving skills; good communication skills; and be organized, efficient and responsive to the needs of internal and external clients alike.
Lead and handle the bid spreadsheet the day of the bid and plug in final subs costs to accurately provide a final cost.
Review all final estimate packages to ensure accuracy and completeness, prior to a formal quotation.
Support business unit leaders, project managing and estimating team personnel as required.
May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates, including current (accurate) information on prices from suppliers
through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, and other sources.
Familiar with and ability to apply policies and procedures as it relates to the position.
Prepare bid tab at the bid opening and provide a analysis report of the results and final bid numbers
Prepare post bid documents for submission to the owner
Prepare SOV to submit as part of post bid documents.
Prepare Project Turn Over Package to submit to Field Team
Estimator will be a key collaborator for new and existing subcontractor relationships for estimating, bidding and project award.
Prepare estimate presentations, special studies, budget control reports and estimating documents for projects and client
presentations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Construction / Project Management, or equivalent required
5+ years of Estimating experience on Commercial and Federal government construction projects.
Proven success in implementing strategic initiatives.
Detail-oriented and can manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal guidance.
Skilled at developing and maintaining relationships with owners, subcontractors, senior leaders, and project teams.
A high degree of initiative, personal responsibility, and integrity.
Advanced proficiency in Connect estimating software, such as On-screen Takeoff, Plan swift or Bluebeam, and MS Project software
along with MS Office Suite as well as CoConstruct
Experience in Dropbox or other cloud-based software
The candidate will have a track record of proven leadership abilities (communication, relationship building, training & development,
employment decisions) as well as commercial general construction estimating and pre-construction experience
Must possess a current and valid state driver’s license and a clean driving record
WORK CONDITIONS
Physical ability to lift and carry at least 50-pounds
Able to bend and crawl in tight spaces.
Willing to work in both unconditioned and conditioned environments.
Travel to different sites, and off-site locations will be required.
Ability to visit construction work sites, including walking and maneuvering on uncompleted floor surfaces, among construction
materials and debris, and climbing stairs and ladders.
Basic understand of PPE, OSHA and CDC regulations
