We are an established general contractor located in Central Kentucky. We have an opportunity for an experienced Lead Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction project estimating and take-offs for a general contractor, be organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented and driven.
Job Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate cost estimates and material price sheets
- Communicate with subcontractors/vendors and team members regarding new and current projects
- Assist in preparing schedule of values and purchase orders in detail
- Ensure timely completion of estimates
- Perform takeoffs for self performed work and review project data for accuracy
- Fully understand scope of work to bid
- Manage bid pricing from all vendors
- Prepare cost analysis
- Establish and maintain working relationships with team members, vendors, and subcontractors
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process to ensure adherence to budget
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and changes in construction costs
Qualifications and Skills
- 3+ years' experience in general construction estimating
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, civil and MEP project plans, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong knowledge of construction estimating principles and processes
- Proficiency in using construction estimating, takeoff software, and MS Office
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations
- Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
- Strong negotiation skills for obtaining competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Attention to detail to ensure accurate and predictive estimates
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
Note: Experience in Construction Management or Project Management is highly desirable.
