Job Description
The function of an Apprentice Log smith is to assist the crew boss in maintaining an efficient work flow, primarily doing chainsawing and chiselling of saddle and lateral notches. The apprentice will be trained in all facets of handcrafted log home construction including log scribing and working with heavy equipment and cranes as they progress to a full logsmith position. Job is performed working outdoors and requires that the employee be able to stand and walk for 8 hours per day. Adept enough to hammer and chisel accurately. Required to lift and operate 15 to 20 pound chainsaw for several hours per day. Must have sufficient equilibrium to function safely at heights of 15' or more above ground.
