Job description

Meta is seeking a Connectivity Engineer, to join our Design Team. The initial focus of the role will be on OSP infrastructure. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative services are delivered. Building and operating data centers the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability and capital conservation.

Connectivity Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Partner with internal and external teams to evaluate new Data Center Regions, focusing on connectivity availability and potential.
  • Oversee the design execution of complete and correct construction documents, schematic diagrams, pathways, rack systems, rack elevations, cable matrices, and bills of materials, as needed for all OSP structured cabling and infrastructure elements.
  • Understand and contribute to the design execution of complete and correct construction documents, schematic diagrams, pathways, rack systems, rack elevations, cable matrices, and bills of materials, as needed for all Inside Plant (ISP) structured cabling and infrastructure elements.
  • Assist with request for proposal (RFP) process & bid documentation coordination for both design and construction contracts as required.
  • Streamline deployment of project deliverables on short timelines.
  • Validate and proof project deliverables and executable design documentation at each design milestone related to Outside Plant.
  • Engage in construction administration phase for design-driven elements that require technical depth that cannot be resolved directly by the Design Consultant or Site Engineer – such as change coordination and request for information (RFI) responses.
  • Partner with internal and external teams to drive programmatically approved changes across applicable projects.
  • Oversee and maintain documents reflecting project completion deliverables (i.e. as-built documentation), updating as required.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver project OSP designs meeting capacity and network requirements as well as rollout timelines.
  • Travel as required (~10-20%) to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at project locations.
  • Drive scalable structured cabling solutions throughout Meta owned or operated data center spaces and support facilities.
  • Understand and contribute to Inside Plant design and constructability standards for the various Data Center Products.
  • Serve as a Technical SME for Outside Plant design and constructability standards for the Geographical Region.
  • Provide regular project status updates and support Connectivity Teams and corporate dashboards that capture delivery, cost, quality, and other established metrics related to OSP specific activities.
  • Participate in various team syncs to drive alignment, visibility, and consistency in project execution.
  • Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues timely and effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years work experience in fiber optic network construction, outside plant, telecommunications architecture and optical transport equipment.
  • Experience in construction management, capital budget, and mission critical electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Experience in local EMEA industry standards, building codes and safety standards.
  • Experience in negotiation and providing solutions to problems under pressure.
  • Experience in MS Project, Primavera, MS Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.).
