Congregation Care Pastor
Status: Full-Time Salary – Exempt

Reports to: Executive Pastor of Ministry
Supervises: Care Groups Director, Associate Care Pastor, Care Admin
Scope
The Pastor of Congregational Care will give vision and direction to the overarching Care & Counseling Ministry of the church so that it supports the Purpose, Mission, and Values of Wheaton Bible Church of seeing people Love God, Love One Another, Love our Neighbors, and Love the Nations. He gives oversight to the Congregational Care Team as they carry out these values through the lens of holistic Biblical care.
Team Lead (25%)
The Team Lead's role is that of a Player/Coach. He is responsible for establishing the culture of holistic Biblical care within the Congregational Care Team. He will develop and lead his Team through discipleship, ministry mentorship, leadership and/or professional development, and assessments. He will provide clarity and direction for overarching ministry alignment. He will lead collaboratively promoting unity both as a team and within the church as a whole. He will represent his Team within the Ministry Leadership Team.
Congregational Care (35%)
He will oversee a unified approach to Congregational Care for the church. He will give oversight to the delegation of intake meetings, assigning of cases, referrals and escalations within the Congregational Care strategy. He serves as pastoral advisor with input and oversight to the team of pastors and ministers regarding holistic Biblical care and counseling. He will assist in developing a robust deacon ministry with a network of deacon teams.
Counseling (25%)
He will actively do the work of biblical pastoral counseling (average 2-4 cases). He will develop, give leadership, and provide ongoing training for a Lay Care & Counseling Team. He will organize annual training of counseling and care for the shepherding team. He will partner with all teams to help lead training for all group leaders in community care.
Marriage (10%)
He will oversee the Pre-Marriage Ministry along with its marriage mentors and curriculum. He will take the lead on engaging and delegating pastoral marriage counseling.
General Church Staff Involvement (5%)
Shepherding Team - Serve as shepherd on-call to meet the general needs of the church congregation when necessary. Function as a member of the church’s Shepherding staff attending development meetings, staff prayer, participating in baptism affirmation, and performing weddings and funerals as assigned.
All Staff - Serve in churchwide projects or ministry initiatives as well as Christmas and Easter services, CareFest, and Missions Fest. Maintain a high degree of confidentiality. Participate as a member of the staff team and be available to assist in general duties as opportunities arise.

Requirements
  • Four years ministry experience in a church
  • Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling
  • Completion of an approved Ordination Certificate
