This exempt position will be responsible for analyzing and resolving conflicts of interest issues and conducting new client background research.This position is remote, based in Dallas, TX. Other locations, including the following, will also be considered:

Essential Duties
- Analyze conflicts of interest issues independently relating to new firm business, lateral attorneys, new staff, and potential merger candidates;
- Draft conflict waivers and ethical walls as needed to resolve potential conflicts of interest;
- Advise attorneys regarding ethical obligations relating to conflicts of interest and other issues covered by the Rules of Professional Conduct;
- Conduct background research on new clients;
- Perform legal research and prepare memoranda relating to professional responsibility and risk management.
- Perform after-hours, weekend, and holiday conflicts checks as assigned.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the Director of Conflicts and Records.
Subordinate staff: This position has no subordinate staff.
Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience
- This position requires a working understanding of large law firm processes and procedures as well as general familiarity with the various practice areas handled by the firm.
- A working understanding of the Rules of Professional Conduct and ethics law and opinions relating to conflicts of interest is essential. Experience with legal research and writing.
Skills
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently while making sound judgments.
- Effective time management and the ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solid legal research and communication skills.
Education
- JD from accredited law school required. License to practice law in US jurisdiction required.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move around the office up to 15% of the time to make copies, fax, file, etc; Remains stationary at least 75% of the time; This position constantly operates, computers and other office productivity machines (e.g., fax machine, copier, printer, etc); Occasionally required to move documents or files weighing up to 25 lbs; This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with the Firm attorneys, clients and staff; This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time.
Working Conditions
Remote. Occasional travel to firm offices and conferences.
Salary range for Colorado: $80,000 - $90,000 per annum.
Salary range for California: $96,000 - $108,000 per annum.
