Concrete Laborer
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Placing forms that hold concrete to ensure the required depth and pitch is received.
- Monitoring the effect heat, wind and cold have on curing concrete to ensure high-quality results.
- Molding and removing edges on expansion joints and sides.
- Installing anchor bolts, steel plates and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
- Polishing surfaces using smoothing materials, abrasive tools, and surfacing machines.
- Aligning forms for sidewalks, curbs, and gutters.
- Waterproofing, damp-proofing, and restoring concrete surfaces.
- Compacting materials using power vibrators to create leveled bases.
- Finishing concrete surfaces with rough or smooth patterns depending on the customers preference.
- Signaling truck drivers and moving chutes to facilitate pouring concrete onto forms.
- Casting and spreading concrete to patch voids.
- Apply hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete.
- Mixing concrete to correct specifications.
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
- Assist construction / paving crew with various duties such as shoveling, raking, and running wheelbarrow.
- Perform general labor duties.
- Perform daily pre-and-post inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones, and other traffic control devices.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
- Must know how to use hand-held and power tools like cutting saws, power vibrators, polishers, and edging tools.
- Time management and organizational skills
- Knowledge of mathematics and basic calculations
- Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintain an effective working relationship with others.
- Perform with minimum supervision.
- Perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.
- Available to work overtime.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot potential issues.
WORK REQUIREMENTS:
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
- Be able to provide valid documentation for I-9 Documents (DL, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate)
- Report to work at the designated start time.
- Willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Properly follow all company safety policies and OSHA.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This is a “Full Time” hourly position paying the following range $14-18. These rates are dependent upon skill set and experience. The following benefits are included after a 90-day probation period:
