City State Entertainment is an independent video game development studio founded in March 2011, in Fairfax, Virginia. The studio embodies an “open office” collaborative process where all team members are expected to contribute to the design and the development process. The team has built a next-generation engine tentatively titled the "Unchained Engine" which is powering their two games in development - Camelot Unchained, a niche RvR old-school MMORPG (currently in Beta) and Final Stand: Ragnarok, a PvE looter-slasher in which teams of any size fight against hordes of NPCs (currently in very Early Access on Steam).
Job Description
CSE is looking to hire a Concept Artist with architectural focus to join our team. Here you will not only be concepting content for our games but also can be part of the visual direction and elevating styles in our projects.
- Explore ideas and develop concepts focusing on architecture but also other various tasked assets as needed, such as: characters and props.
- Participate in critiquing your work and the work of fellow artists
- Work together with Art Director and other team members to maintain visual cohesion and within technical constraints
- Quickly create and iterate upon concepts as needed to support design, project limitations, and/or for needed variations.
Qualifications
What we are looking for:
- 2 or more years of concept art experience for video games and/or relevant experience
- Excellent understanding of artistic principles including: form, proportions, volume, silhouette, color, ect....
- Must be able to rapidly sketch and make changes to concepts based on feedback.
- Adopt a broad range of styles from realistic to highly stylized based on goals and direction for a given project in order to produce concept art with an appropriate sense of color, drama, shape language, personality,
- Familiarity with video game product development and workflow,
- Good sense of time management and prioritization skills
- Strong communicator that is willing to seek out others when in need and give feedback as well
Additional Information
