Job Description
The Maintenance machinist works hand in hand with the maintenance team to produce precisely engineered parts used to build instruments, machines, and tools. The parts must fully meet all desired requirements. This role is critical in managing and executing parts rebuild, repairs and any other authorized modifications of parts and /or machinery in a timely and efficient manner so as to optimize productivity.

This role is critical in managing and executing parts rebuild, repairs and any other authorized modifications of parts and /or machinery in a timely and efficient manner so as to optimize productivity.
Principal Job Duties:
- Analyzing specification charts, samples, and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements.
- Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications.
- Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts.
- Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the parts rebuild /modification or repairs.
- Participating in root cause analysis of failed parts together with other personnel on site
- Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of consumables, parts and tools needed to fully operate the tooling workshop.
- Working with the site inventory clerk, assisting with inspection of incoming maintenance materials.
- Operating maintenance shop equipment to carry out each step correctly and keeping up to date maintenance logs, inspections, and other information.
- Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
- Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects
- Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop
- Offer technical back up/shift cover and any other support to maintenance crew as and when needed.
Qualification
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience as a machinist
- Experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated tools and machines (lathes, grinders etc.)
- Eye for details --
- Understand both metric and imperial standards of measurement.
- Ability to use precision tools (e.g., calipers. Gauges) to take accurate measurements.
- Ability to root cause problems.
- Knowledge of the properties of metal and other material
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
- Good at math with analytical abilities
- Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items.
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship preferred
- Well-versed in technical/engineering drawings /solid works and AutoCAD preferred
- Versed with high-speed packaging filling equipment such as fillers, palletizers, labelers, steam systems, valves and mechanics of machines preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with good ability to interact with technical staff.
- Good analytical/innovative and critical thinking
- Flexibility to respond to off-hour emergency situations related to factory operations.
