Job Description
Be a part of a world-class academic health-care system at UChicago Medicine as a Multi-Modality Imaging Technologist at our Orland Park Clinic.
$10,000 sign on bonus available!
As a Multi-Modality Imaging Tech, you will perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams and Computed Tomography (CT) procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. you will provide appropriate patient care and recognizes patient's conditions essential for successful completion of the procedures. Services are provided in accordance with industry standards, department protocols, and hospital policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
  • Performs both MR and CT scans as assigned and holds competency for both MR and CT procedures. Performs procedures according to set protocols established by radiologists.
  • Review all requisitions to ensure correct exam(s) have been ordered and allotted the proper time frame. To coordinate exams that requires direct Radiologist involvement.
  • Has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate care protocol relating to the physical and psychological needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, young and mature adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Prepares contrast media, performs venipuncture, and administers contrast to patients under the direction of the physician.
  • Review/evaluate completed exams for quality and proper format. Makes notation to Radiologist when images are to be repeated and the proper technical factors needed for correction.
  • Reports and records all malfunctioning equipment to Imaging Manager and/or Radiology Engineering appropriately.
  • Appropriately utilizes imaging systems, accessories and patient positioning techniques to generate quality images.
  • Utilizes radiology information systems in accordance with current guidelines and protocols.
  • Perform daily quality assurance (QA) scans to ensure the system is in good working order. Check to ensure that routine PMs (Preventive Maintenance) are performed as scheduled. Routinely
    check the RF coils for damage/and report repairs as needed. Document all system errors and save raw image and raw data when necessary to help service personnel troubleshoot any problems with
    the systems.
  • Performs other duties as requested by management.

Required Qualifications
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiology technology training in an AMA approved school.
  • Effective communication skills and excellent patient care skills required.

Licenses/Certifications
  • Licensure by the state of Illinois (IEMA).
  • Current registry by ARRT, advanced certification in either MRI or CT. Advanced certification in the other modality required within 12 months of hire date.
