AddressPosition Objective: Provide services as a Computer Systems Analyst in support of the overall functions of National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The position will independently provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide software recommendations and solutions across diverse scientific applications, including freeware relevant to analyses of scientific discovery. 2
Support and maintain scientific Computer Systems including hardware, operating systems, and associated services in a high-performance computing environment. 1
Provide performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization across the full range of scientific high- performance computing architecture.
Determine needs and provide IT support for computerized systems supporting activities.
Manage data formatting input and output.
Prepare data and analysis for presentations and publication.
Provide computing support including troubleshooting, answering technical inquiries from users, and procuring new systems.
Maintain computational infrastructure, including upgrading and configuration of hardware and software systems . 3
Specify and configure operating systems to control desired scientific hardware.
Collaborate with staff to increase the productivity efficiency of data analysis using high-performance computing.
Create system documentation, electronic templates and examples, training materials and presentations.
Manage a data storage and backup for scientific computers using available resources . 4
Meet with lab members to present updates - Ad- Hoc
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science.
Five (5) years of experience in computer science.
Skilled in Java, Python, and JavaScript.
Extensive familiarity with scientific databases.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail.
Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
