Job Description
COMPUTER LAB INSTRUCTOR
This full time exempt position, reporting to the Deputy Director/Program Director or his/her designee, is responsible for providing computer instruction to residents participating in the Computer Lab workshop curriculum.
Responsibilities:
- Providing residents with group, individual, and computer instruction as outlined by established curriculum
- Developing, preparing and maintaining progress records for each student
- Ensuring that accurate attendance records are maintained on a daily basis
- Monitoring student’s progress via computer generated outcome based measurements
- Ensuring accountability for all student’s access to computer systems via access code and assigned seating
- Working with business service representative(s) to develop and monitor computer program plan for each student
- Identifying, developing and implementing up-to-date course curriculum relevant to corrections population
- Providing support to ERC staff as needed
- Attending all mandatory training as required by contract agencies and Kintock
- Monitoring accountability of students traveling to and from computer learning lab
- Assisting in providing instruction to ERC staff for software utilized by residents
Qualified applicants will have the following knowledge, abilities and skills:
A working knowledge of:
- Modern educational computer software;
- Teaching principles and practices for beginners, intermediate and advanced students;
- Instructing an at risk population;
- Operating systems, including WINDOWS XP, 7, 8, 2003 Server, 2008 Server.
The demonstrated ability to:
- Maintain a flexible schedule;
- Provide instruction to a variety of educational levels;
- Recognize resident’s areas of need and address them effectively;
- Support network systems;
- Meet and maintain contract employment requirements;
- Sit, stoop, stand, walk, bend, and lift at least 15 pounds.
Academic and work experiences:
High School Diploma/GED; A two-year certificate in computer education training and one year demonstrated effectiveness as a computer education instructor, preferably with a community based human service organization.
