Staff Pharmacist
Salary: Hourly & based on experience
Description/Job Responsibilities:
The Sterile Compounding Pharmacist is responsible for ensuring the proper dispensing, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The Sterile Compounding Pharmacist also provides pharmacy counseling services to patients regarding the effective usage of medications and awareness with drug interactions.
● Serves patients by preparing medications, giving pharmacological information to multidisciplinary health care team, and monitoring patient drug therapies
● Accurately performs final verification of large volumes of prescription orders
● Prepares compounded medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders
● Dispenses medication by compounding, packing and labeling pharmaceuticals
● Manages pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians workflow, verifying their preparation, and labeling of medications
● Provides counseling to patients via phone and/or in person
● Complies with federal and state drug laws, USP<795>, USP<797>, USP<800>, the DEA and FDA
● Maintains records for controlled substances and remove outdated and damaged drugs from pharmacy inventory
● Supervises technicians and pharmacy staff
● Protects patients and technicians by adhering to infection-control protocols
● Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, policies, and regulations
● Maintains required licenses and certifications, must be in good standing with all regulatory agencies
Education & Experience:
● Graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education
● Valid State pharmacist license
● At least (1) year of compounding pharmacy experience preferred
Skills required:
● Self-starter with the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
● Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
● Must have knowledge of pharmacology and current FDA health regulations.
● Strong interpersonal and people skills
● Be able to work standing and walking for duration of shift (8-10 hours)
