Overview:
The Compliance Auditor I supports the Compliance Program across the Ministry, partnering with Legal, Human Resources and other business units as necessary. The position must demonstrate an understanding of Medicare and Medicaid billing rules and regulations as further delineated in this document. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate Degree in a related field (nursing, HIM, healthcare administration, etc.) plus 2 years relevant auditing experience OR 4 years relevant auditing experience.
  • Experience: A minimum of two years' experience with healthcare coding (CPT, HCPCS, DRG, IDC-10, HIPPS, RUG, Modifiers, Revenue Codes, etc.) and appeals process.
  • Required Certifications: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
  • Preferred Certifications: Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)

OTHER SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
  • Working knowledge of ability to interpret medical records, UB and/or 1500 claim fors, remittance advice, and/or the charge description master (CDM).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
