Job description

We are currently looking for a Compliance Assurance Consultant to be a key member of the Crop Compliance Assurance team. This position is preferred to be based out of our Anoka, MN office.

 

In this role, you will develop and execute against the Crop Compliance Assurance Plan which evaluates the internal control performance and design to ensure compliance with crop insurance regulations outlined by the Risk Management Agency (RMA), state requirements, and company policies and procedures. You will partner with key contacts and various levels of management to ensure that effective controls are in place. This is a dynamic position where you will manage a timeline, apply critical thinking to make independent assessments, articulate outcomes identified to management, and provide recommendations that drive change.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Follow the requirements of the Zurich Compliance Program to provide adequate and consistent assurance while implementing and delivering on the Compliance Assurance framework.
  • Work independently to develop and execute testing strategies and methodologies for low complexity risk items based on current risk environment and assurance obligations under the Zurich Compliance Program to provide adequate assurance that compliance risks are identified and adequately managed.
  • Develop end-to-end understanding of a process: identifying risks, controls, and control gaps by learning process steps, understanding systems (inputs/outputs), and identifying contingencies of processes.
  • Test business process against regulatory requirements; performing interviews with business management, re-performing transactions, and applying data analytics.
  • Assist the business in identification of improvement action items and responsible for tracking and managing action through completion.
  • Assess processes and findings based on risk exposure. 
  • Compose Compliance Assessment Reports based on the requirements of the Zurich Compliance Program. Communicate assessment to business management and Zurich Compliance.
  • Consult with the business with respect to policies and regulations (i.e. their adoption, development, implementation and maintenance), practical guidance, training, relevant controls, and processes for mitigation of Compliance risks.
  • Support the Zurich Compliance Program, as it relates to creating the yearly activity plan, ensuring stakeholders are informed, understand and support Compliance activities and prioritization, performing assessments, maintaining Zurich Compliance systems and preparing adequate reporting materials for governance committees.
  • Some travel required

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims, Marketing, Underwriting or Compliance area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims, Marketing, Underwriting or Compliance area OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims, Marketing, Underwriting or Compliance area AND
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of underwriting and/or claims processes
  • Experience working in a legal regulatory environment 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Three or more years crop insurance industry experience
  • Solid knowledge of federal crop insurance regulations and procedures
  • Organized and able to consistently meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message.
  • Comfortable with excel
  • Negotiation skills
