POSITION SUMMARY
The Compensation and Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting in the administration of compensation and benefits programs. Provides a high level of customer service in alignment with organization’s customer service structure for all staff members. Maintains knowledge of economic conditions, labor market, and other factors related to ensuring the organization provides competitive and reasonable benefits and compensation scales and structures. Maintains knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in compensation and benefits administration and provides recommendations for changes. Monitors administrators’ and insurance carriers’ reports to ensure the organization’s compliance with plan requirements, participates in plan reviews and provides data and feedback on plan structures and offerings. Ensures the organization’s and plans’ compliance with the applicable provisions of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA. •
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field required. Three years of experience in benefits and/or compensation required; or combination of equivalent education and experience.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and compensation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to independently initiate and execute projects with keen attention to detail and deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, and ERISA requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Substantial sitting, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (not to exceed 25 lbs.) and pushing objects. At times may be subject to high levels of stress. Requires considerable mental effort and logical thought processing.
