SUMMARY

Strategic Security (SSC) is a nationwide leading provider of security guard services, executive protection, bomb dog, intelligence, consulting, investigative services. SSC has an immediate job opportunity for a dispatcher. We are looking for highly motivated applicants that have the education, and skills that meet all state training requirements and certification as a dispatcher by the North Carolina Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and NC Telecommunicator Certification as a qualified dispatcher. Strategic Security Dispatcher positions afford applicants job security and the ability to experience different aspects of policing.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring and answering telephone, radio, ELERTS, and other communication devices for normal business and emergency calls for service.
  • Question callers to determine locations & nature of problems to determine type of response needed
  • Maintain access & security of highly sensitive materials
  • Ability to communicate information / ideas clearly in written & spoken language
  • Ability to listen to / understand information & ideas presented through spoken words / sentences
  • Ability to monitor multiple radio talk groups at one time
  • Review and operate Transportation Agency’s CCTV System
  • Receiving and documenting calls to and from designated personnel.
  • Maintaining overall situational awareness of routine and emergency events.
  • Directing (Dispatching) resources to assist Operations, Customers, Security, or other personnel when requested or proactively during non-routine events.
  • Receiving, screening, documenting calls and e-mails, and directing those calls and e-mails to appropriate resources for investigation or information
  • Monitoring security systems, including surveillance systems.
  • Contacting appropriate Emergency Service Personnel as necessary.
  • Making proper notification to appropriate Transportation Agency’s Duty personnel in event of incidents.
  • Providing information to appropriate Company Project Manager and Officers as necessary for both routine business and emergencies to include requests for information from field personnel.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment / policies / procedures / strategies to promote effective local / state / national security operations for the protection of people / data / property / institutions
  • Skill in the structure & content of the English language including the meaning & spelling of words / rules of composition / grammar
  • Performing any additional security related duties as assigned by the Transportation Agency’s Project Manager

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous Contract Security, facilities management, military or law enforcement experience
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills required.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented management environment with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, complex situations, a diverse team of employees and client requirements on an ongoing basis.
  • Must possess or can obtain a state drivers license, as well as be a US citizen for the state which you are applying.
  • Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the public in a professional and effective manner.
  • Must be have North Carolina Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and NC Telecommunicator Certification as a qualified dispatcher.
  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local law.
  • Must submit to a SBI polygraph if you are still in a probationary status.
  • You must have an honorable discharge from the military (if applicable).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED

Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software.

Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.

Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.


OTHER RELEVANT SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Must be able to read and write English and pass Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) reading test.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Environment: Indoor and outdoor, temperature ranges from moderate to extreme cold and heat
Major activity: Walking, capable of standing for 8 hours, speaking, listening, observing
Physical efforts to carry out job duties: Standing, walking, and sitting. Minimal to no stooping or kneeling.
