Community Relations Associate

Who We Are:

We are a traditional Sephardic Synagogue with modern American Jewish religious practices. Currently, we are home to over 500 families from a variety of backgrounds, including Iran, Iraq, Israel, Turkey, Egypt, Morocco, Rhodes, Greece, and Cuba.

Who We Are Looking For:

We aim to grow our community in Southern California, especially among the younger generation. Our Rabbi joined our community in 2022 and has been instrumental in driving towards this objective. Our Rabbi needs a Community Relations Associate to be his right hand in developing our Community Relations and taking us to the next level. The Community Relations Associate will report directly to our Senior Rabbi and provide a diverse set of job duties, including community outreach, email marketing, social media management, event planning, fundraising and communications, in addition to assisting the Rabbi with other day to day activities and needs. Our staff consists of a small but cohesive and capable team; this role is a critical one for our organization and will have high visibility among our leadership, but most importantly, will be a key customer-facing role that will be visible to our entire community.

Responsibilities:

• Team up with our Senior Rabbi to drive our organizational objectives, including member engagement and growth; work with our Rabbi to ideate, develop and execute various programs and events
• Manage social media accounts and groups; develop content and make posts to engage with the community, market events, fundraise, etc.
• Lead event execution efforts with the help of temple staff, including planning, marketing, budgeting and day-of coordination
• Create and maintain a database of current, former and prospective members to help drive communications efforts (phone, email, SMS, WA, social media, etc.)
• Attend events and services to develop relationships with our community members
• Reach out to community members on a regular basis via phone/email/text to encourage participation in events/programs, attendance to services, donations, volunteering, etc.
• Develop key communications and marketing collateral to be shared with various audiences, including copywriting and design
• Assist the Rabbi with other day-to-day activities, including his communications to the community; assist temple staff with other duties as needed
• Ability to travel to various locations in Los Angeles to facilitate the above responsibilities

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in comms, marketing, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
• Superb organization and communication skills (written/verbal, phone/email, etc.)
• Ability to keep up in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with little structure
• 5+ years experience in related field strongly preferred
• Fluent in English; Hebrew and/or Farsi a plus
• Working knowledge of Constant Contact, Microsoft Office, Social Media

· Eye for design; proficient in common content creation tools, such as Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, etc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 30 per week
