Provides efficient and accurate handling of customer requests and transactions in a professional and timely manner. Ensures all required policies, guidelines and standards are met as they provide service to BMO customers. Includes a mix of customer service and customer fulfillment activities.
U.S. Only: This position will act as an originator of consumer loans as defined by Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act). This position will require a Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. The Bank will instruct you on the registration requirements needed to comply with this requirement. A criminal background review and credit history evaluation will be required for this position as well as restrictions on performing in a real estate agent capacity.

  • Proactively contact prospective borrowers requesting a pre-qualification; structures or re-structures 1st Mortgages using available down payment assistance programs.
  • Provides customer service by responding to general questions via phone, mail, or text in a timely and professional manner; includes acting as a main point of contact for certain customer requests
  • Reviews and discusses affordable lending options based on program requirements
  • Contact customers to obtain, clarify or confirm information
  • Reviews and discusses counter offers and structuring options for loans with customer to fulfill the customer request in a timely manner
  • Addresses customer services concerns according to established parameters, escalating as required
  • Liaison between customers and various departments across the organization to discuss procedures and provides mortgage product support and expertise
  • Delivers exceptional customer service that builds trust through expertise, responsive service, and support
  • Develops customer rapport and instills confidence to develop credibility and earn trust as subject matter expert
  • Keeps current with established processes, polices, regulations and knowledge of products
  • Conducts independent analysis and assessment to resolve strategic issues
  • Integrates information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhance analysis and / or streamlined reporting
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
  • Participates in projects and other activities designed to improve the customer experience
  • Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose and solve problems within given agency parameters
  • Recommends workflow improvements to deliver a more efficient operation
  • Gathers additional documentation from the customer and / or internal/external stakeholders to ensure all required information is available to fulfill clients request
  • Follows security and safeguarding procedures and apply appropriate due diligence in accordance with Bank Policy for the prevention of loss due to fraud
  • Thinks creatively and proposes new solutions
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed

Qualifications
  • Typically, between 3-5 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Able to handle high volume of customer requests
  • Ability to multi-task
  • PC skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Negotiation skills
  • Specialized knowledge from education and / or business experience
  • Verbal & written communication skills
  • Collaborations & team skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of credit qualification standards, polices and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of mortgage lending process and applicable regulatory requirements
