Position Summary
The Community-Oriented Response and Assistance team is a multidisciplinary group of first responders and mental health professionals who organize outreach to communities affected by tragedy and violence in Albuquerque. CORA begins outreach within a 72-hour window after the incident; identifying the area affected, reaching out to community leaders, organizing a meeting or alternative method of outreach and connection. CORA Responder coordinates the outreach effort, finalizes scheduling and, sends out invitation to appropriate parties. Helps facilitate the discussion. At the event, provides education on grief and trauma. Explains what individuals can expect while processing the event and how to connect to resources. Provides resource guides and soft transfers to mental health providers.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, public administration, public relations or education; and
Three (3) years of experience working with education or community program implementation and coordination.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
  • Principles and practices of program development and implementation within assigned area
  • Basic knowledge of behavioral health and social service needs and activities
  • Basic procedures, methods and techniques of budget preparation and control
  • Principles and practices of public relations
  • Modern office equipment including computers, federal data collection systems
  • Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and safety regulations

Preferred Skills & Abilities
  • Coordinate and direct assigned programs within assigned area
  • Recommend and implement goals and objectives for providing assigned programs
  • Elicit community and organizational support for various community services programs
  • Design solutions to management problems and training needs
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with community and other staff members.
  • Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
