Job description

  • Location: Must reside in Michigan
  • Job type: 1099 work-from-home, community engagement role
  • Stand out in your community with your international connections!

ABOUT:

Cultural Academic Student Exchange Program (CASE) is a non-profit, volunteer-spirited, organization facilitating 10 month academic/cultural homestays for August 2024 incoming High School exchange students. Established in 1988, CASE is a designated sponsor of academic year J-1 exchange visitors regulated under the US State Department.

HIRING

To help us reach our goal of expanding CASE across cities and towns in Michigan, we're searching for a well-connected stay-at-home parent. teacher, or adult, who is well respected in his/her community, to work with us in finding local volunteer American host families for our well-screened incoming exchange teens; and providing after arrival cultural support. It is truly an engaging and rewarding role that involves approximately 3-5 hours weekly of community involvement.

EXCHANGE STUDENTS (16 DIFFERENT COUNTRIES)

Our host families are required to be volunteer, however our students provide their own personal spending money, full medical insurance, and are ready to become a participating member of their new American Host Family – pitching in on everything from family discussions to sharing household chores. The student will attend the nearest public High School to the hosts and speaks English at a participatory level.

Your Responsibilities will be:

  • Willingness to engage your community members in conversations about the benefits of hosting an international exchange student
  • Finding local host families, maintaining ongoing contact with schools, host families and exchange students
  • Updating Regional Manager on any host/student/school issues if they arise
  • Facilitate State Department required in-person Host Family home visits and record monthly host/student contact in CASE's online database
  • Attend online refresher trainings when offered

Travel Incentive

The CASE Program believes that cross-cultural experiences are essential to greater understanding, personal development, and exchange program success. To honor this commitment, we reward our Area Representatives with an expense-paid trip to an exciting international location each year. This trip, based on 8 qualified Host Family placements, focuses on building relationships across our remote US field teams, and providing culturally enriching international experiences for our representatives. Past trip destinations include Ireland, Scotland, Argentina, Germany, Spain, England, Amsterdam, and more!

Qualifications

  • You must reside in Michigan to be considered, and be well connected in your community
  • This is an independent contractor job and you must be able to make at least 1 placement with a Host Family that you provide every season
  • You must be a self-starter and be able to talk to people about hosting
  • Possess good problem-solving skills
  • Are self-directed and self-motivated

Compensation

Area Representatives are 1099 independent contractors who receive a generous commission-based payment each time they successfully match a foreign exchange student with a local volunteer American Host Family. CASE also offers outstanding placement bonus opportunities throughout the placement cycle and free international group travel.

$1,000 - $1,400 per placement for a 10 month exchange student, $900 for a 5 month student (place 16 academic year exchange students and earn $20,000, and qualify for two international trips!)
