Position Title: Community Engagement Specialist
Location: Jobs-Plus
Reports To: Program Director
General Purpose:
To foster Community Support for Work within the target NYCHA developments served by Jobs-Plus as operated by Goodwill. To utilize community partnerships to increase memberships, engagement and achievement of programmatic goals.
Essential Functions:
· Complete all permits related to community events organized by Jobs-Plus. · Recruit, coordinate and manage volunteers for outreach events. · Communicate with other Goodwill Programs and Jobs-Plus site to share best practices and improve outcomes from community events and activities. · Ensure that all organized outreach events are clearly connected to programmatic outcomes or goals. · Coordinate with Employment team to develop eployment opportunities through community partner organizations. · Works closely with other staff to effectively recruit residents to participate in field events. · Works closely with Resource Coordinator to develop and deepen relationships with community partners. · Attend local Community Meetings to develop partnerships that will support outreach events and activities. · Communicate to staff, interns and volunteers what their roles will be with regard to execution of community outreach events. · Incorpate financial counselors into outreach events to intentionally introduce members to financial services. · Assists in development and maintenance of professional working relationships with partners, support organizations and other service providers. · Coordinate community outreach activities to include Block Parties, Lobby Meetings and participation in community events. · Any other assigned task not listed above.

Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements:
· High School Diploma and two years direct experience in a Workforce Development program service delivery preferred.
· BA/BS preferred. · At least 2 years’ experience in event planning, Community Engagement or marketing preferred. · Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. · Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Well spoken and professional demeanor at all times. · Must be people oriented, motivated and be able to work with a diverse population in a fast-paced environment. Must be organized and detail-oriented. · Must be flexible and able to respond to the changing needs of the program.
Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised:
Occasional supervision of volunteers at events will be required.
Special Working Conditions:
This position will require occasional work outside in the local community area. This position requires some work on evenings and weekends. Requires travel throughout NYC to attend networking events.
