Job Description

The Community Coalition Coordinator is responsible for the direction, management, and administration of the Healthy People Healthy Carolinas (HPHC) Grant.  Maintains adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.  Participates in an interdisciplinary and inter-facility approach to achieving the mission, philosophy, and goals of MUSC Chester and the Chester County Community Coalition. This position is a grant funded position.

General Responsibilities

  • Monitors adherence and quality improvement to current standards of practice.
  • Develops and coordinates financial management for grant of direct responsibility.
  • Directs Grant activities through supervisory personnel.
  • Establishes and maintains active involvement with appropriate staff departments and community groups to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Demonstrates well-defined organizational and time management skills.
  • Observes professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired regarding personal, financial, medical or employment of patients, families, and employees of MUSC.
  • Applies concepts of customer relations and advocacy.
  • Promotes positive relationships.
  • Follows and enforces accepted safety practices for patients and MUSC by observing safety guidelines and safe work practices.
  • Participates in safety instructional programs.
  • Reports hazards and initiates appropriate action.

Additional Job Description

Experience/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Three years grant management, community, or public health experience.  Must possess the ability to manage the development and growth of the HPHC program. Demonstrates skills in communication, conflict resolution and human relations.  Must exhibit a team approach.  Must be knowledgeable of fiscal, general healthcare issues, trends, quality management and legal aspects of business management standards. Must have knowledge and understanding of healthcare disparities. Must possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Requires good interpersonal skills.  Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written.  Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands/deadlines.

Education: Graduate of an approved or accredited school with bachelor’s degree in business or public health.
