Communications, PR Director

What You’ll Do

The Communications, PR Director will be directly responsible for managing and executing the public relations strategy to promote and protect the agency’s reputation and brand. This position requires strong writing skills, clear and consistent communication, and creative, outside-the-box thinking. 


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Drive all communications opportunities from the ground up, including internal agency relations, strategy, collaboration and media outreach
  • Creating and executing PR strategies that show Madwell’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, employee culture, and client work.
  • Foster existing industry relationships, as well as build new connections with industry influencers, ad trade press and general media relations.
  • Work alongside leadership and new business team to refine agency positioning and storytelling.
  • Securing media coverage for agency news, client work, conferences and speaking opportunities.
  • Play a key role in the ongoing work of strengthening the reputation and awareness of Madwell.
  • Collaborate closely with leadership and department heads to identify both internal and external communication prospects.
  • Develop and execute tailored strategies that align with Madwell's business goals and vision. 
  • Partner with Creatives and Account Teams during campaign development, giving guidance on PR potential of ideas and generating proactive ideas for PR activations as part of campaign.
  • Create and implement executive visibility and thought leadership plans for senior leadership, with a focus on shepherding external speaking, media and award opportunities
  • Proactively seek out, assess, and oversee editorial and event opportunities year-round.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key press and event organizers, fostering connections both within and beyond the advertising industry, with a special emphasis on business, technology, and consumer segments.
  • Facilitate and oversee creative, strategy and talent award show submissions via a sharp and strategic approach.
  • Manage corporate brand across different channels (social, web, internal) to ensure consistency in messaging across the company. 
  • Drafting of press releases as necessary
  • Building a strong relationship with clients and key stakeholders, and communicating with them regularly
  • Oversee partnerships and communications with external partners 
  • Pitching to relevant media and columns to continue to build the agency’s presence; brainstorming and presenting unique opportunities to continue to elevate Madwell
  • Ideating creative culture + press opportunities that can set Madwell apart from other agencies
 

Our Must-Haves

  • Passion for advertising and PR and fostering relationships with industry leaders, reporters, influencers
  • Creative thinker with strong written and verbal communication
  • Proven ability to problem-solve and work in a fast paced environment
 

Where You’ve Been

  • 5+ years in Public Relations / Communications role, preferably in-house brand side or in a creative agency

Salary Band: $110,000 - $135,000

* This is a hybrid role, you must be located within commuting distance of Brooklyn, NY to be considered for this role.*
