The Communications Leader, External Affairs & Crisis/Issues will play a pivotal role in leading communications for Chemours advocacy efforts, partnering across the enterprise to address key stakeholder audiences within the governmental, industrial and NGO sectors.
This position involves developing comprehensive communications strategies and plans for Crisis and Issues management, policy advocacy, and strategic relationship building with business and policy influencers. The incumbent will be a strong leader with deep expertise in communications on key issues and managing communications during critical issues and/or crisis, and a demonstrated ability to develop and deploy differentiated communications to inform and influence policy priorities.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Leads development of comprehensive communications strategies to support regulatory, legislative, and legal advocacy efforts aligned with business goals.
  • Provides strategic communications counsel to senior business leaders and serves as strategic communications partner for key issues of legislative, regulatory, and legal significance.
  • Maintains deep understanding and tracking of current and emerging industry topics and Issues, as well as public perception, to provide expert communication counsel to achieve favorable outcomes related to public policy, regulatory, legal, and other key areas.
  • Develops key collateral for use in advocacy and strategic influencing efforts.
  • Aids cultivation and development of allies aligned with company positions on issues of strategic importance.
  • Manages communications preparedness for crisis/issues to enable rapid and strategic response to critical events.
  • Leads communications response to unanticipated events in ways that successfully mitigate risk and best position the company to achieve its goals.
  • Represents Corporate Communications in key collaborations with industry trade associations, coalitions, and other external partners.
  • Ensures strong collaboration and alignment across multiple functions and businesses to achieve stronger performance outcomes of key activity.

The following is required for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of communications experience with a focus on managing communications for high-profile, critical issues or crisis response.
  • Substantial knowledge of factors that influence public policy, regulation and litigation at the state and U.S. federal levels.
  • Must be able to travel

Pay Range (in local currency):
$105,280.00 - $164,500.00

Annual Bonus Target:
11%

Factors considered in extending a compensation offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, and alignment with market data. The incentive pay is dependent on business results and individual performance and subject to the terms and conditions of the specific plans.
