Position Summary
The Communications Intern will support public relations, marketing and administrative projects, and they will gain an interactive, hands-on experience in the nonprofit communications field, including interviewing, media relations and social media.
This role is from late January to May 2024 for two days a week for a total of 12-14 hours per week. This is a hybrid position, with at least one day each week at The Fresh Air Fund’s NYC office (633 Third Avenue, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10017).
Responsibilities:
- Support creation of digital content for The Fund’s blog and social media, with a focus on TikTok
- Conduct research on social media and other digital trends
- Interview Fresh Air Fund children, parents, alumni and host families
- Review participant records in Salesforce database and create reports on attendance and participation history
- Upload, catalog and tag images in photo database
- Assist with public relations activities
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18+ years of age. At least one year of college is preferred
- Required experience: 1-3 years (including internships, relevant course work and work-study programs)
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and time management skills
- Drive to learn in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently, and to follow directions
- Social media experience is a plus
- Interest in joining a youth development organization and supporting its mission and vision
Employment Period: Late January – May 2024
Hours per Week: 12-14 hours with a start time of 9am each day. Days may be decided based on candidate’s preferred schedule but must be the same days each week, with occasional evening and weekend commitments.
Compensation: $17/hour
