Position Summary

The Communications Intern will support public relations, marketing and administrative projects, and they will gain an interactive, hands-on experience in the nonprofit communications field, including interviewing, media relations and social media.

This role is from late January to May 2024 for two days a week for a total of 12-14 hours per week.  This is a hybrid position, with at least one day each week at The Fresh Air Fund’s NYC office (633 Third Avenue, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10017).

Responsibilities:

  • Support creation of digital content for The Fund’s blog and social media, with a focus on TikTok
  • Conduct research on social media and other digital trends
  • Interview Fresh Air Fund children, parents, alumni and host families 
  • Review participant records in Salesforce database and create reports on attendance and participation history
  • Upload, catalog and tag images in photo database
  • Assist with public relations activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18+ years of age. At least one year of college is preferred
  • Required experience: 1-3 years (including internships, relevant course work and work-study programs)
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and time management skills
  • Drive to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently, and to follow directions
  • Social media experience is a plus
  • Interest in joining a youth development organization and supporting its mission and vision

Employment Period: Late January – May 2024

Hours per Week: 12-14 hours with a start time of 9am each day. Days may be decided based on candidate’s preferred schedule but must be the same days each week, with occasional evening and weekend commitments. 

Compensation: $17/hour
