Communications Director, Center For Community Outreach

Position OverviewWork Schedule: 10 hours per week
This position oversees promotion and outreach activities for the CCO. The Communications Director leads promotion of CCO programs and opportunities across campus departments, including academic departments, student organizations, and more. This position serves as a member of the CCO’s Executive Staff.
Job Description

• Maintain the CCO brand in conjunction with the Creative Director.
• Distribute advertisements to promote the CCO and all of its programs and events utilizing social media, especially Instagram and WordPress, to increase volunteering..
• Communicate with on campus departments via email/social media at events to promote upcoming volunteering events.
• Serve as the primary contact for local media including the University Daily Kansan, the Lawrence Journal World, KJHK radio station, and other news outlets.
• Oversee each of the programs social media posts and aid in the promotion of programs through the main accounts of the CCO.
• Maintain and update the CCO website and social media sites in conjunction with the Executive Director.
• Report Directly to the Executive Director. Meet for advising sessions once per week with the Executive Director. Carry out tasks given by Managing Director on an as-needed basis.
• Additional relevant tasks and projects as determined throughout the term.

Required Qualifications

Must be enrolled in at least six (6) credit hours at KU.

Experience facilitating promotional campaigns.

Experience with social media management.

Prior experience working with and collaborating with diverse populations.

Prior work experience managing multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Previous experience working with the Center for Community Outreach.
2. Commitment to Community Outreach and service.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with others.
4. Strong organization and time management skills.
5. Previous experience with website management, specifically with WordPress.
